SocialNet
A social platform with profiles, a publishing feed, friends, channels, messaging and audio/video calls.

About the project
SocialNet is a social web application for publishing and real-time communication. Profiles, a feed with attachments and reactions, people search and friend requests connect with a WebSocket messenger, channels and WebRTC calls. The Next.js client and Hono server are organised in a pnpm monorepo, with PostgreSQL access through Drizzle ORM.
The challenge
Bring publishing, social connections, direct messaging and calls into one application with a clear client/server boundary.
What we built
Profiles with photos and covers, plus posts with attachments and reactions.
People search, friend lists and friend requests.
A WebSocket messenger with message editing, voice notes and video messages.
Channels and WebRTC audio/video calls with role separation.
Next.js, Hono, Drizzle ORM, PostgreSQL, WebSocket and WebRTC.
